PrEP in Health Centers

HIV Prevention in Primary Care:
A PrEP Session at the NACHC CHI

Got Prep?Several of you attended the CHI education session about pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), and more of you may be familiar with PrEP. But for many health centers, PrEP is a new and unknown tool for preventing HIV. Highly effective when used appropriately, PrEP is the prevention of HIV infection for very high-risk patients through the use of Truvada on a daily basis.

Any licensed provider can prescribe PrEP, and the patient-centered medical home is the ideal setting to assess risk, to engage patients in prevention options, and to monitor adherence in patients using PrEP However, there can be many questions and concerns about implementation including reimbursement, patient engagement, medication adherence, and provider buy-in. We can work with PCAs and health centers to determine if PrEP is a good fit for your patients. Contact us.
